Thanks, Michael. I set my work aside to read this when I saw it come through. I look forward to your next thoughts and updates on A.I.

I had another realization - sort of separate from my typical thoughts of "what will the world be like (for our kids especially)..." which is this:

I feel that the goals (personal and professional) that I have established for the next 5-10 years need to happen in the next 2-3.

Or maybe more appropriately - "how can I compress my 3 year goal(s) into the next 12 months?" And, "what should I stop doing now?"

Not necessarily from a doomsday perspective, but simply because opportunities will shift.

Thanks Scott!

So, at a broader level, are you saying that you're thinking over shorter time horizons?

On some level, it feels that as things change more rapidly, we should be more and more careful of long-term goal setting.

Yes, essentially. With more urgency toward a few important goals, and less toward everything else. Agreed on long-term goals!

Great article as always, Michael. You said: "With this article, I attempt to help you see through the noise by using dialectical thinking—one of my top 5 strategies for learning faster and better.". I would love to know what are your other top strategies, in the comments or maybe in another article eventually!

This tech feels a little different. Factories, cars, and iPhones were not improving exponentially every month.

It would seem that more caution is called for, and I am the biggest fan of scientific and tech advancement.

Excellent article. Thanks.

I'm an environmental scanner do I suggest that we look at the context. Political, Environmental, Economic, Social and Technology.

At first glance, I see three fields that will produce masses of new jobs.

1. CRISPR will help make people healthier and create new jobs in medicine and manufacturing.

2. Education is not designed today to focus on these careers so it will have to develop new training and education models. And, hire many people for the transition.

3. Global warming will produce so many old and new technologies, read jobs, to cushion the impact of climate change.

Climate change gains could dwarf the losses due to AI.

Thanks Vic! Great comment.

It made me think about how most of the jobs in the US in 1900 were farming and manufacturing.

In 20 years, I could see us looking at many of the professions that exist today as we look at farming and manufacturing jobs from 100 years ago.
