Hey Michael I just wanna say again how excited I am to be in these classes!
When I signed up, I think I was (mistakenly) under the impression that we were going to spend the whole year simply learning and duplicating YOUR prompts.
(Which, no lie, would be pretty dope!)
But that mistake made me approach the first week of class thinking: “I must master every one of his prompts!” Well, as ambitious a goal as that seems… I’m realizing it’s just not possible…
But, correct me if I’m wrong, I’m also realizing that’s not even the expectation. It’s not about all of us becoming “Mini Michael Simmons.”
It’s about each of us being exposed to the ideas and the prompts, and then going off and discovering how to generate our own…
And when I look at the class that way, I feel zero pressure to “learn it all,” and instead feel free to take my time and pick and choose what I want to explore.
I’ve never felt that way about a class before — not even in college! It was always “memorize everything and master each concept, OR ELSE!!!”
I think this new approach of just having fun and learning what I can, is going to be so much better.
I’m stoked. I think this year is gonna be a real game changer for me.
