SCALE Your Intelligence

Michael,

I am looking forward to the forthcoming series on augmented intelligence. The outline of topics for discussion promises an opportunity for deep learning. Reflecting on your mind map of issues, I thought about how it might be crafted and reimagined as a mental model for augmenting human intelligence. For my benefit and not to diminish the mind map of which I am an avid practitioner, I offer the following graphic for your consideration. I changed three topics to create an apt mnemonic, which became a branded model that I describe as SCALE Your Intelligence. Each letter corresponds with your original classifications. There are brief definitions for each of the five terms I have selected, two from your original and three new terms with similar meanings. Applied, logical, and equanimous described behavior, cognition, and emotion more precisely. One questionable term may be equanimous. However, the topics you recommended under emotion are all characteristics of an equanimous or calm individual rather than an emotional person. My suggestions are an invitation for further discussion.

Hi Michael!

Is this course intended to use AI to extend yourself? I am excited to hear all about this.

The way you use AI is fascinating in that you are not simply asking AI to do things for you instead you're treating it much like you would a very competent assistant.

I've been in the AI rabbit hole as well, I'm just trying to soak it all in (there's ust too much)

What tools are you using at the moment? Are you using a multitude of AI tools to augment / amplify yourself?

Hi Radrad,

Your question regarding other AI tools reminded me of my own research and challenges sorting through the multitude of AI tools. I thought this Mind Map of AI software might be helpful. I took a number of courses to hep me decide. The mind map link below is designed from the content of one such course. The instructor for this course was Mushtaq Bilal. The text in red refers to the AI software the he recommended for research.

These are only suggestions, and many others could be recommended, but they come from this presenter who is an accomplished researcher.

Thanks for the resource, John! I appreciate your generosity!

It seems that everyday there's a "new" AI tool "that wil change everything" --it's tiring TBH.

And it can get overwhelming (and confusing) --I come from a creative background so you can only imagine that this coupled with the AI research tools available can get paralysing.

and the tools cost a significant amount of $ as well (ofcourse) so there's a slight pressure to get it right. :)
