In this 1977 clip, the great philosopher of media, Marshall McLuhan, summarizes his biggest idea. His ideas are even more relevant today given how much time we spend on media. For example, the average person worldwide spends a jaw-dropping 11+ hours per day watching TV, listening to radio/podcasts, reading books/magazines/newspapers, or interacting on social media.
Hi Michael! Congratulations for this new project. I am really happy to know that I will learn from you almost every day now - it made my day!
Question: Most of the time, I can pick up a book or something instead of scrolling on my phone. However, there are moments during the day when being on my phone almost seems like the only thing I can do. In those moments, what useful or educational things do you do on your phone instead of scrolling on media and social media apps? I would love some inspiration!

Thanks Myriam!
I would recommend having a queue of super rare and valuable content prepped beforehand.
For podcasts, I use https://www.snipd.com.
For videos, I use YouTube's watch later function.
While YouTube can be a huge distraction, it also has a huge treasure trove of amazing interviews and speeches.
That's a great tip, thank you very much Michael! I'm going to try Snipd today!
Congratulations Michael! Love to see you back on track here on Substack! Expecting to learn a lot from your content!
Thanks Dennis!
Congrats on the launch!
Looking forward to learning from you!
Thanks Kei! I hope all is well.
Yeah, we're doing well!
I hope the same to you!
