What if you could skip 100+ hours of AI research every month… and just get the gold nuggets that actually matter for your work?
Every month, I spend 100+ hours learning about the frontier of AI knowledge work from highly curated sources.
Most of the clips never make it into the newsletter, because they don’t fit into the longform articles I write.
In the Inner Circle WhatsApp group, I’ll share the best nuggets I find, along with a quick paragraph or voice note on why I thought it was interesting/important.
WhatsApp will be a more personal, informal space for us to connect.
The private group starts on Monday, August 25.
If you’re a basic paid subscriber, you get access for free.
In short, You will get access to the highest leverage, highest signal content on AI knowledge work, thought leadership, and entrepreneurship in the world. In the process, you’ll save dozens of hours per month sifting through AI hype, noise, and overwhelm.
If you’re not yet a member, you can access the Inner Circle and $2,500+ in other perks (7 AI courses, three books, two mental model manuals, dozens of premium prompts, and my entire library of 200+ video lessons and blockbuster articles) for just $20/month or $149/year.
If you are already a member, follow the instructions at the very bottom of this post to join the WhatsApp group right now.
The Story Behind The Announcement
This summer, I struggled to write in my standard blockbuster article format.
What I experienced is all too common for people trying to stay on the frontier of AI. There is a fundamental tension between:
Using AI to incrementally improve our offering.
Using AI to reinvent our offering.
Reinvention unlocks 10x the value, but it takes more time and is messier.
In the spirit of you learning from my mistakes and lessons, here’s what happened…
Stage #1: The Profound Realization
In June, I realized that something fundamental had shifted:
AI programming tools (eg, Make.com, Claude Code, Lovable) had become powerful and user-friendly.
I could learn programming super fast with the support of AI.
Together, these two things brought me to a realization.
For my whole adult life, I had viewed myself as a non-programmer. Every time I tried to learn it, I got frustrated by the debugging process and ultimately gave up. Then, when I hired programmers, I didn’t understand programming enough to manage them effectively.
But this summer was different.
I decided to become a programmer.
Stage #2: Doing The ‘Impossible’
I spent 100+ hours learning Make.com and Claude Code and built 10+ custom tools, which I now use daily and will share in the AI Second Brain course.
To help me break through where I got stuck in the past, I created a project in Claude. Then, I used bugs as learning opportunities. Whenever I received an error message that a Make.com automation didn’t work, I pasted the error into Claude, and I instructed Claude to:
Identify my knowledge gap inherent in my inability to fix the bug.
Teach me the missing knowledge at a layman’s level.
Share multiple solutions to the bug (fastest, recommended for my ability level, what a world-class expert would do)
Claude not only helped me fix all of the bugs I came across; it helped me become proficient in Make.com very rapidly.
Soon, programming went from frustrating to fun. And, I went from creating nothing to creating tools I use daily.
The tools I built this summer will fundamentally transform the offering of this newsletter and help you:
Learn faster
Think better
Create Trademark Ideas
Write better
Furthermore, with my newfound expertise, I was able to build relationships with two new programmers and Make.com specialists with whom I’ll be working.
Big Picture: What I now see is that AI can help us learn in many areas where we got stuck before.
We no longer need to cope with our learning challenges by identifying ourselves as a non-designer, non-programmer, or non-[fill in the blank].
We no longer need to change our life path based on our current inabilities (e.g., choosing not to do something because we don’t have the skill at the moment).
With the support of AI, we can learn things that were impossible to us before.
Stage #3: The Messy Middle
But here’s the rub.
Writing about the process in the awkward beginner stages didn’t feel right. I felt like a caterpillar in a cocoon.
I didn’t know what was possible because I was still learning the tools.
I needed time to think about what tools to create as I learned about their capabilities.
I needed to think about how to fulfill my previous commitments in this newsletter while creating new ones, without overcommitting.
In short, I felt like I needed to crystallize my insights and offering before creating regular longform content again and before making public commitments about the future of this newsletter. I thought this process would take a few weeks, but it kept taking longer. June turned into July. And now here we are in August.
In retrospect, I should have done some “here’s what’s happening” updates. Instead, I was in a stage of constant excitement about learning programming, updating the newsletter offering, feeling behind, and feeling guilty about not being in better touch.
Stage #4: Clarity
Now things are clear.
Last week, I announced the monthly AI Second Brain course.
And today, I am announcing the private WhatsApp group that basic paid members of this newsletter receive for free.
And there’s more to come.
Join My Inner Circle To Stay On The Forefront Of AI
Every single day, I spend 3-4 hours:
Listening to podcasts in Snipd and then saving 2-3 clips.
Reading the X AI newsfeed and saving the most compelling posts.
Reading top AI newsletters.
Talking to my AI friends about what they’re learning.
Each of the sources from which I gather information has been relentlessly refined to focus on the diversity of perspectives and the quality of thinking.
Most of the nuggets I find never find their way into anything I create, because they don’t fit with the longform articles I write. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t super valuable.
With that said, I’ll share the best nuggets along with a quick paragraph or voice note on why I thought it was interesting and important.
The cadence will be organic. Some days I might post nothing. Other days I may post several times. But, you will get at least one new nugget per week and probably many more.
In short, by joining the group, you will get my best nuggets distilled from 100+ hours of learning per month. So, you will save dozens of hours of your own time.
Why I Love WhatsApp
I’m connected to dozens of AI friends inside of it and love it for several reasons:
WhatsApp is connected to your phone, so you get notifications, and it’s more personal.
WhatsApp allows you to leave voice messages. You can also listen to these messages at 2x speed or have them transcribed. With voice messages, I can use the app while doing chores or taking walks.
I’ve built a custom automation that creates a weekly digest document of what happened in the group.
30 Days To Start, Then Ongoing If It Resonates
I'm starting with just 30 days to see how much value I can pack in.
If you love it (which I think you will), then we'll keep going.
It will begin on August 25.
