Class Overview
In Wednesday’s AI Blockbuster class, I shared a case study of how I wrote The Prompt Leadership Revolution: Why The Next Generation Of Thought Leaders Will Create Tools, Not Content in just a few hours using the class transcript from Monday’s 6-Figure Prompt Newsletter class.
As context, this sort of article would’ve taken me weeks to write without AI.
I used a case study as the focus of the class because of the following quote:
In one atom, infinite worlds are contained. One flower contains the entire universe.
—Buddhist Proverb
In other words, through that one recent case study, participants were able to see how I used multiple mental models and prompts that we’ll cover in detail later in the course to rapidly develop an idea.
For the last third of the class, I shared the exact two prompts I used to:
Convert the class transcript into a very solid second draft that was easy to edit.
Drastically improve the article
These two prompts alone will double the quality and quantity of your writing. I’m not exaggerating.

Introduction and Course Overview (0:00:00 - 0:02:18)
Michael opens the first class of the AI Thought Leader School's Blockbuster AI track with high energy, expressing excitement about the frontier possibilities of AI. He outlines his background in mental models and thought leadership, then presents the course's ambitious goal: to help participants 5x the quantity and quality of their writing with AI over the next year. He explains how this track synergizes with the other two tracks (6-figure prompt newsletter and human superintelligence), creating a comprehensive ecosystem for AI-powered thought leadership.
The Prompt Leadership Revolution Concept (0:02:18 - 0:07:33)
Michael introduces his recently published 3,500-word article on "The Prompt Leadership Revolution," explaining how he coined the term "prompt leader." He shares his philosophy that the most valuable asset for thought leaders isn't content but concepts, shifting from content marketing to concept marketing. Using examples like "anti-fragile," "1,000 true fans," and his own "5-hour rule," he demonstrates how single powerful ideas can define entire careers and become foundational to industries.
Value Creation Models for Thought Leaders (0:07:33 - 0:11:15)
Michael breaks down different ways content creates impact: hacks (like Mel Robbins' 5-second rule), protocols (like David Allen's Getting Things Done), frameworks (which change how people see the world), and paradigms (his favorite for highest leverage impact). He positions paradigm shifts as the most powerful but underutilized approach, explaining that they're difficult but offer the greatest potential for transformative impact on audiences.
Participant Engagement and Discussion (0:11:15 - 0:16:00)
Michael actively engages the class, asking participants to share their biggest "aha" moments about his process. Students respond with insights about coining new phrases, paradigm shifts, forcing functions, and the emerging importance of prompting. He emphasizes his approach of not being attached to ideas but wanting to prove them wrong or sharpen them quickly, encouraging questions and disagreements from participants.
Connoisseurship and Studying Excellence (0:16:00 - 0:18:01)
Michael introduces the concept of "idea connoisseurship" using a wine tasting analogy. He shows a video of an expert wine taster detecting complex flavors like "wet dirt" and "soy sauce," explaining how this level of discernment comes from trying many different wines and making distinctions. He applies this to thought leadership, arguing that this forgotten stage of success allows you to develop intuitive judgment about which ideas are best and how to edit effectively.
Building Mental Models for Success (0:18:01 - 0:27:14)
Michael shares his foundational approach of building a base of universal knowledge that lasts forever, including learning how to learn and mental models. He discusses his struggle with timing and opportunity windows, leading to his research and article on Jeff Bezos's "hockey stick rule." He explains his newsletter model as "getting paid to learn" and how studying fundamental principles creates building blocks for unpredictable future opportunities.
AI Adoption and the Hockey Stick Rule (0:27:14 - 0:35:18)
Michael applies his hockey stick rule to AI adoption, explaining how his mental model of spending at least 5 hours with exponentially growing technologies helped him quickly engage with GPT-3.5 in November 2022. He contrasts this with his previous technology adoption rule of waiting until things went mainstream. The class discusses their own AI adoption journeys, with Michael noting the challenge of "deceptive early results" where initial poor outcomes can mislead users about AI's true potential.
From Classes to Content Creation (0:35:18 - 0:42:05)
Michael describes his evolution from newsletter articles to teaching AI classes, noting the immediate jump in membership value when transitioning from articles to courses. He explains how teaching creates forcing functions for learning and provides valuable feedback loops. He introduces the concept of "AI-first classes" and emphasizes how class transcripts become valuable assets for both students and teachers, enabling AI-powered conversations with the content.
The Power of AI-First Thinking (0:42:05 - 0:45:22)
Michael explains his framework for reimagining thought leadership through an AI-first lens, drawing parallels to how the internet initially just made existing processes more efficient before completely transforming business models. He uses music industry examples (from selling albums online to streaming and short-form content) to illustrate how technological revolutions eventually create entirely new paradigms rather than just efficiency improvements.
Infinite Prompting Strategy Explained (0:45:22 - 0:49:00)
Michael reveals his core "infinite prompting" technique, sharing the specific prompt he uses to create 20 artifacts that build on each other "like dominoes." He explains how this approach gives AI space for extended thinking (up to 20 minutes) and references "The Bitter Lesson" essay to justify letting AI do its own reasoning rather than over-constraining it with human assumptions. He recommends Claude Max for this intensive approach.
Michael Glenn's Prompting Question (0:49:00 - 0:53:00)
Participant Michael Glenn shares his strategy of asking Claude what information it needs rather than trying to anticipate requirements. Michael Simmons strongly endorses this approach and discusses building an AI "second brain" using Google Docs to organize context about yourself, preferences, company, and goals. He explains how your existing articles become valuable synthetic data for future prompts.
Building Your AI Second Brain (0:53:00 - 0:57:08)
Michael provides practical advice on organizing information for AI systems, recommending Google Docs for easy sharing and context building. He discusses the trade-offs between different AI platforms and tools, acknowledging the current "messy" state of the ecosystem while emphasizing the importance of maintaining conversation history and context for better results.
The "Unstuck" Prompt for Writers (1:01:02 - 1:05:54)
Michael shares his "unstuck" prompt designed to help writers overcome creative blocks by getting them re-excited about their projects. The prompt asks AI to find profound second-order implications, spark curiosity with deep questions, and identify what would make an article "blockbuster." He shares how this prompt helped him revive a book project he'd abandoned after 200 hours of work.
Interactive Workshop Session (1:05:54 - 1:25:17)
The class transitions to hands-on practice, with Michael guiding participants through choosing ideas, gathering data, and using the prompts. He provides real-time support as students work with Claude, troubleshooting issues like account limitations and suggesting starting with 5 artifacts instead of 20 for users on free plans. The session emphasizes learning by doing rather than just theoretical understanding.
Advanced Prompting Tips and Troubleshooting (1:25:17 - 1:32:32)
Michael shares advanced features like Claude's extended thinking mode and file upload capabilities. He demonstrates the three-prompt workflow: create (for initial drafts), iterate (for improvements), and unstuck (for overcoming blocks). He shows examples of his own article creation process, emphasizing that AI provides solid structure and saves hours of work while still requiring human editing and refinement.
Q&A with Steve Finegan (1:32:32 - 1:35:22)
Steve Finegan asks about maximizing learning impact with limited time (2 hours per week). Michael emphasizes integrating AI into everything you do rather than just setting aside specific time, recommending trying every prompt shared in the course. The discussion covers course pricing, payment plans, and how thought leaders differ from software engineers in their prompting approach due to their market understanding and industry frameworks.
Course Logistics and Community Discussion (1:35:22 - 1:38:50)
Michael addresses questions about community features, explaining his decision to treat the live classes as the primary community experience rather than creating separate forums. He discusses the balance between providing comprehensive classes and managing overwhelming communication. The session concludes with logistics about upcoming classes, calendar subscriptions, and access to Monday's class recording.

00:05:10 Michael Simmons: https://blockbuster.thoughtleader.school/p/the-prompt-leadership-revolution
00:05:21 Gabriel: I read it!
00:05:34 Gabriel: Great article!
00:09:09 Mark Brown: I know someone asked this on Monday, but I didn’t see an answer. Is there a community page for all of us?
00:09:41 Mark Brown: Got it. Meant for the group🙂
00:11:47 David Goad: I like the idea of a forcing function
00:11:48 Leandra: Coining new phrase + paradigm shift
00:11:51 Bonnie J.: I love these clear targets for what the article needs to do.
00:11:51 Kevin Whitcher: Just that prompting itself is going to become the really big thing
00:12:01 Bill Craddock: the idea that concepts are more important than content
00:12:07 Jonathan Hughes: I spent a lot of yesterday working through the concept on whether prompt leadership will last...will it really be the 'key' to moving forward.
00:12:10 Vikram K: Prompts like Revelatory engine and Consensus contrarian were aha moments for me
00:12:35 Mark Brown: Does prompting get too saturated
00:12:38 Malliha: The quote “a wealth of information creates a poverty of attention.”
00:12:46 Leandra: Replying to "Does prompting get t..."
It could but it’s not yet
00:12:47 Stanley Wilson: The class and looking at creating prompts has caused me to look at how others are giving away prompts to then provide other value/service
00:12:48 David Goad: Are agents AIs transitioning prompts to conversational approach?
00:12:53 Janet Ridsdale: Paradigm shift. I am going to tell my auduence that prompts are the language of AI that we need to learn in addition to valuing to human connection
00:13:16 Kevin Whitcher: I guess AI will be so huge, that if you can be the puppet master, then you have the keys to the kingdom
00:14:42 Michael Glenn: I don’t think any of this changes thought leadership per se… but I think the advances in AI will change how thought leadership is delivered, I guess 🤷♂️
00:15:01 Jonathan Hughes: Watching how prompt engineering is working in software engineering makes me think it won't continue - they are starting to self heal (debug and fix bugs) without any prompting. Less prompting is being required in each iteration of an AI's model.
00:15:22 Leandra: Yup. Timing is sooooo important.
00:15:41 Jonathan Hughes: Now that ChatGPT has a 'memory' it also changes what one needs to use in a prompt
00:15:46 Etienne R: Prompt as a way to reduce the learning > implementation gap is a real innovation that will last ! It is a real innovation as we can now remove a constraint
00:15:53 Phil Powis | Sacred Business Flow: I was thinking about how ai really has the potential to make it harder for people to focus on what the “next best thing” really is for them - and so curation and order of operations seem will get even more valuable. i.e. if I have all the skills of AI, I can do anything/everything, but should I? I’ve been wrestling with this myself in my own prioritization of what opportunities to lean into. Whereas in the past the lack of a skill would be a block if I wasn’t willing to go deep into learning /aquiring
00:16:39 Ram Iyer (www.MiTRamiyer.com): Replying to "Watching how prompt ..."

The best answers/solutions in the world come from asking good questions. There will always be many people with "answers/solutions", but few who will know how to ask good questions. That is the value of good prompt engineering!
00:16:57 Vikram K: Revelation Engine: https://blockbuster.thoughtleader.school/p/the-revelation-engine-chatgpts-memory
This introduced the concept of "leading edge" which was so deep and something i needed to hear, and expected to hear from someone who could read my mind. Hence it was an aha moment for me.
00:17:35 Leandra: underbrush
00:17:36 Leandra: hahahaha
00:18:48 Ram Iyer (www.MiTRamiyer.com): The best answers/solutions in the world come from asking good questions. There will always be many people with "answers/solutions", but few who will know how to ask good questions. That is the value of good prompt engineering!
A good analogy: just because you bought new and better tools does not make you a better craftsman!

00:24:27 Michael Glenn: I’ve just now started using AI
00:24:30 Kevin Whitcher: 6 months before I got serious
00:24:37 Leandra: A few months. A few people reached out to me and I signed up in June 2023
00:24:38 Jonathan Hughes: Heard about it forever...took me til this year to treat it seriously
00:24:39 Etienne R: 6 months until your post
00:24:40 Phil Powis | Sacred Business Flow: Had been using a lot of pre gpt copywriting tools so when chatgpt came out I was like woah lets go lol
00:24:44 Mark Brown: a couple of years
00:24:46 Leandra: But I started seriously using it early 2024
00:24:48 Una Doyle: Business Coach (Double Your Profits): I jumped in pretty quickly and now use it daily
00:24:51 Malliha: around 8 months.
00:24:53 Wendy McNeeley: Started about 2 months after it’s release
00:24:53 EDROBINSON : at least 2 years. One of my friends was very into ot 2 years ago. I've only just had a proper look a week ago and it changes everything already.
00:24:58 Abraham Marcus: One year from hearing about it.
00:25:10 Stephen: Used immediately, but results were not good for engineering.
00:25:12 Leandra: I was afraid of it at first
00:25:13 Stephen: Good now.
00:25:22 Don S: Couple of months; following new technologies.
00:25:33 Susan B: super curiosity
00:25:40 Stanley Wilson: I felt like I was living in a cave and lost years of trend and information. From the day of that conversation I went head first into AI and have not looked back
00:25:41 Jonathan Hughes: A time window opened up (I was super busy with work and family).
00:25:44 Una Doyle: Business Coach (Double Your Profits): I always like to save time and do things better
00:26:11 Malliha: I exprimented with and on and off. I knew I needed to pivot and learn about AI in a more meaningful way because I am seeing how it’s shifting how we engage with tech, learning, connection, information, resources, etc.
00:26:15 Stanley Wilson: Now I am AI first at all things
00:26:23 Una Doyle: Business Coach (Double Your Profits): It was early last year when I was hearing about different ways we could use it. I was already using an AI tool for repurposing podcasts so was very open
00:26:24 David Goad: Always thoughtful on AI since reading “The Singularity” 15 years ago
00:27:41 Michael Simmons: https://blockbuster.thoughtleader.school/p/augmented-reading-learn-10x-faster-and-better
00:27:57 Mark Brown: So much ai noise, I find it difficult to wade through to find substantive knowledge. that’s why I am here
00:28:06 Etienne R: This article was my real trigger for AI adoption :)
00:30:40 Leandra: Getting paid to learn is one of the things that excites me most.
00:30:50 Leandra: While being in control of what I write/publish
00:30:54 Gabriel: Getting paid to learn is a fascinating idea.
00:30:55 Malliha: getting paid to learn and essentially teach is intriguing

00:31:31 Jonathan Hughes: The aside you made at the beginning about the prompting class - that it will focus on how to market your prompts etc. I hadn't heard that on Monday.
Being paid to learn - I very much want this!
00:31:34 Michael Glenn: I feel like it’s a lot to take in honestly. I’ll probably have to watch these first few videos a couple times to really get it
00:32:10 Stanley Wilson: The thought of learning all of this and putting it to use in my work is exciting and fuels my curiosity.
00:32:24 Michael Glenn: Reacted to "The thought of learn…" with 👍
00:33:14 Malliha: "You haven't really learned something unless you can teach it."
00:33:16 Una Doyle: Business Coach (Double Your Profits): I’m still not quite getting how I can create prompts for certain parts of what I do… But I’m doing a VIP session with a client tomorrow and will be using lots of AI tools with them to speed up what I’ve done previously.
00:33:22 Leandra: Reacted to ""You haven't really ..." with 💛
00:33:24 Mark Brown: I am going all in. The knowledge field is so large so I need to focus on a few things and fake it till I make it. Am I qualified to start a substack newsletter today. Not even close but I am going focus learning time on that.
00:33:26 Una Doyle: Business Coach (Double Your Profits): Reacted to ""You haven't really ..." with ❤️
00:33:36 Etienne R: Being able not to add noise but to create valuable content is my motivation

00:48:14 Susan B: I had an epiphany about that today. That the human brain is still superior, and we can ask AI to maximize, but I find it failing me, and when I drop back and build more simply, it works better for me.
00:48:14 Gabriel: A bit off topic (sorry) but would you recommend getting a subscription to Claude instead of ChatGPT?
00:48:18 Malliha: makes sense
00:48:24 Una Doyle: Business Coach (Double Your Profits): I didn’t understand the video but understood what you just said
00:48:46 Susan B: I have Claude Pro
00:48:51 Susan B: Good to know about Max
00:48:52 Etienne R: For example here when you prompt several paradigm you do not quote specific paradigms on purpose ?
00:48:56 Susan B: I was wondering about that
00:49:07 Kevin Whitcher: Sure - the nature of AI - keeps digging and finds different stuff with every spadeful of dirt., Makes sense to ask for 20 artefacts

00:53:57 Gordon Raup: Replying to "Does CLAUDE remember..."
What you can do with Claude is create a project and give it many, many documents that reveal all the various aspects of the problem space and your goals and then, when you create artifacts in that project it will use all that background information. The advantage here is that you can have multiple project for different and even opposing objectives.
00:54:26 Gabriel: Reacted to "What you can do with..." with ❤️
00:54:34 Gabriel: Replying to "Does CLAUDE remember..."
Thank you Gordon!
00:54:59 Una Doyle: Business Coach (Double Your Profits): Replying to "Got a COMPLETELY WRO..."
Oops. ChatGPT completely flipped, deleted most of my canvas and kept telling me it’d done stuff when it hadn’t. But the chat was HUGELY long - over a few weeks as I was working on a project - and I think that was the issue
00:55:34 Etienne R: Are you able to separate different level of context (paradigm level, framework, content to use) in a prompt ?
00:55:48 Gabriel: Reacted to "No" with 👍
00:56:39 Gordon Raup: Replying to "Got a COMPLETELY WRO..."
@Stephen Can you tell me more? I've had very good experience with Perplexity. Is there a lesson to learn from your experience?
00:57:44 Gabriel: 2
00:57:46 Gordon Raup: dozens
00:57:47 Michael Glenn: Maybe 12
00:57:49 Kevin Whitcher: Unique is a challenge!
00:57:49 Malliha: I cannot count!
00:57:54 Mark Brown: Reacted to "I cannot count!" with 👍
00:57:56 Stanley Wilson: 20 ideas…

00:58:02 Wendy McNeeley: several
00:58:04 Leandra: Dozens I’m sure but I haven’t put them down in one place to really quantify either
00:58:17 Jonathan Hughes: The end result article - would you say it was 80% AI written and 20% Michael?
00:58:24 Leandra: Way too many is perfect 😊

Oops. ChatGPT completely flipped, deleted most of my canvas and kept telling me it’d done stuff when it hadn’t. But the chat was HUGELY long - over a few weeks as I was working on a project - and I think that was the issue
That happened to me. It is still in your canvas history - look at the top right corner. click on it to view
00:59:51 Gabriel: For the transcript of the previous class, did you use a Zoom function or an AI connected to Zoom?

Luckily I’d copied the bulk of it to a google doc

Answer to Gorgon. Was researching a dual mode Blue Tooth intergraded circuits. It concluded with a recommendation for one integrated circuit saying it was dual mode. It was not.
01:01:53 Leandra: YUP

01:05:57 Bonnie J.: Replying to "Does anyone else fee..."
Yes, although I’m more connected to Claude, but I’ve spent more time there than in ChatGPT
01:06:00 Leandra: Replying to "Does anyone else fee..."
Claude used to feel warmer at first but the more you use them, the closer they are
01:06:01 Gabriel: The first prompt you used. You shared it already?
01:06:04 Jonathan Hughes: I feel it all comes down to your advice at the end of the first class: write a prompt per day - play with it.
01:06:05 David Goad: Much to think about - thanks!
01:06:09 Malliha: Motivated.
01:06:12 Kevin Whitcher: Time to get prompting! On a mission

01:06:18 Leandra: Super excited!!!
01:06:47 Una Doyle: Business Coach (Double Your Profits): Replying to "Does anyone else fee..."
True, when I’ve tried Claude I didn’t get the same feel. I’ll have to give it a go with today’s prompt… But it doesn’t know anything about me and I’ve not got my 2nd brain in gear yet.
01:06:55 Ram Iyer (www.MiTRamiyer.com): "Use it or lose it" The paradigm of all attendees needs to be to change from being a knowledge collector to a knowledge applier!
01:07:04 Gabriel: Sorry, I might be wrong, but I am looking at only one prompt on the doc you shared
01:07:09 Michael Glenn: Still overwhelmed but that happens to me often especially in the beginning

01:07:28 Gabriel: THANKS!
01:07:29 Susan B: thanks for talking about Claude Max. I already ran up against the Pro capacity wall, so it's good to know there are other options
01:07:30 Gabriel: 🙂
01:07:32 David Goad: Gott run - thanks again
01:08:00 Leandra: Mostly in a conversation with ChatGPT
01:08:11 Una Doyle: Business Coach (Double Your Profits): So is the idea we use one of our own transcripts for this from a class we gave or video we made and use that for the prompt?
01:09:26 Kevin Whitcher: Ok - so you don’t talk for 5 minutes so I can dictate to word?
01:09:36 Michael Simmons: HAha
01:09:52 David Stepania: is it possible to get the slides? i joined late due to little time zone discrepancy

01:14:07 Janet Ridsdale: Its working on it :-)
01:14:30 Kevin Whitcher: Ok Michael - you can type reply if need be - we should go ahead with the prompt now? Or are we waiting for the start gun?
01:15:15 Kevin Whitcher: Replying to "Ok Michael - you can..."
You’ve gone for a coffee - I’ll dive in
01:16:28 Michael Simmons: Once you have the idea, then you should modify and use the prompt.
01:16:57 Una Doyle: Business Coach (Double Your Profits): I can’t see how to upload a doc to Claude - apologies basic I know but not used to using it

01:19:21 Kevin Whitcher: I’ve just got Claude going after posting your prompt, with a slightly revised first para
01:19:26 Bonnie J.: Just finished creating my idea, am about to load it into Claude
01:19:28 Susan B: claude giving me internal server errors
01:19:33 Susan B: I will have to upgrade
01:19:35 Stanley Wilson: Eating 5 more artifacts for article
01:19:43 Una Doyle: Business Coach (Double Your Profits): Got the idea, found a transcript in my docs but need to export and upload and then modify the prompt

01:20:10 Janet Ridsdale: Using Chat GPt going to see what it ends up with
01:20:12 Vikram K: I have used the "Create" prompt with a detailed email i sent to a friend about a strategy.
01:20:19 Leandra: Too late. I forgot to edit the 20 😅
01:21:03 Kevin Whitcher: On the 3rd artefact out of 20! Didn’t think to rein it in (have Pro Claude)
01:21:16 Vikram K: THe section of prompt under "Thinking Mode" is super detailed and can be used in other prompts that i normally use as well

01:22:20 Stanley Wilson: The future doesn’t belong to the best thinkers. It belongs to the best prompted ones. From my reiteration
01:22:34 Susan B: also, the number of artifacts and the size of the artifacts I start with matter. When I back that down, it runs.
01:22:40 Stanley Wilson: Written with AI, refined by human.
01:22:41 Janet Ridsdale: Its asked me questions which I will answer later and then it says it is going to go in deep thinking mode -new for me

Yeah I’m doing both and excited to see what chatgpt does because it handles canvases different than claude does artifacts
01:23:10 Malliha: Reacted to "Yeah I’m doing both ..." with 👍🏾
01:23:16 Kevin Whitcher: I dictated a 171 word para to get something to feed Claude. It’s enough!
01:23:43 Una Doyle: Business Coach (Double Your Profits): OK prompt entered! It’s a very old transcript for the purposes of this class, so I’m curious what will come out of it…
01:23:47 Jonathan Hughes: I'm working in Chatgpt today and this was it's last line after creating 5 artifacts. Classic chatgpt: Let’s build the future of emotional intelligence — one prompt at a time.

Best thinkers will create best prompts. AI is only like extension and amplification to our existing knowledge level. Best thinkers will write best prompts
01:25:40 Leandra: Reacted to "The future doesn’t b..." with 💯
01:25:50 Malliha: I need to upgrade Claude. I will have to work on this after class
01:26:22 Irakli Tsignadze: How many hours a day do you think is decent for a full time prompt leader? learning+execution
01:26:40 Mark Brown: Very exciting. Now I want to distribute. Maybe a multi day carousel on LInkedin
01:29:06 Kevin Whitcher: I think I will need to edit your prompt to niche in the way I think I will want to, going to use AI to hone it. Iteration is king!
01:30:30 Susan B: YES. Use case iteration. I'm all in.
01:31:22 Marcin Podolski: most people focus on productivity and efficiency, because it is a different paradigm based on Cook-Greuter's Ego Development. Michael opearates on higher level of cognitive development what automatically lead to different usage of AI. Michael is around construct aware level, post conventional thinking level, most people are on the conventional level that's why AI is used in this conventional way.
